SEO Services for Small Businesses in London
For most small businesses in London, SEO means one thing: appearing in the three map results when someone nearby searches for what you do. Everything else is secondary, and a lot of what gets sold as small business SEO is work that will never affect those three results.

How your customers search
What search looks like in your sector
The searches are short and local: a trade plus a borough, a service plus near me, something plus open now. Google has said its local results are based on relevance, distance and prominence, and distance is not something anyone can optimise away.
People compare three businesses, look at review counts and recent photos, and call one. Most never visit a website at all, which is why the profile matters more than the homepage for many trades.
Searches we would go after for you
- [trade] in [borough]
- [service] near me
- emergency [service] London
- best [service] in [area]
Examples, not a finished list. The real one comes out of your site, your margins and what your competitors already hold.
The work
What we actually do
Every engagement starts with an audit, so this list gets reordered once we have seen your site. Nothing here is theoretical.
- 01
Google Business Profile
Category, services, photos, hours and posts, which for most small businesses is the highest-return work available. New profiles take days to verify, so we start there.
- 02
Service and area pages
One page per service and per area you genuinely cover, rather than a list of thirty boroughs you have never worked in.
- 03
Reviews
A routine for asking that fits how you actually work, kept inside Google's rules.
- 04
Site basics
Speed, mobile layout, click to call and a contact form that works. Unglamorous, and usually where the conversions are lost.
- 05
Honest scoping
If your budget is better spent on ads, or if your profile alone would do the job, we will tell you rather than sell you a retainer.
Before you start
What the results page looks like today
This is the most polluted results page we looked at. Paid directories hold the commercial terms and some of what ranks is outright spam on hijacked domains. The genuine competition is a handful of London agencies. Price is the dominant question in this market and the pages that answer it openly do well, which is why ours does.
We would rather tell you which positions are realistic now than sell you a target we both know is years away.

FAQs
Small Businesses SEO: common questions
If yours is not answered here, email us and we will reply properly.
How much does SEO cost for a small business in London?
Published UK ranges run from a few hundred pounds a month for narrow local work to a couple of thousand for broader programmes. Those are vendor figures, not an industry standard. We quote a fixed monthly number after looking at your site and your market, and we will tell you if it is not worth it.
Do I need a website if I have a Google Business Profile?
You can get calls from the profile alone, and some trades do fine that way. A site helps you rank better, answer questions before the call, and own something no platform can switch off.
Can I rank across all of London?
Not from one address, no. Distance is one of the factors Google names for local results. You can extend reach with service-area content and more locations, but there are real limits and we will be straight about them.
Is cheap SEO worth trying?
Usually not. The very cheap end tends to involve bought links and copied content, which can leave the site worse than before. Spending nothing beats spending on damage.
How long before I see enquiries?
Profile work can show within weeks. Competitive borough searches take three to six months. If you need calls next week, ads are the honest answer and we will tell you that.
