WordPress Migration
WordPress migration service
Moving a WordPress site is mostly straightforward until the redirects are wrong, and then it costs you six months of search traffic. Our WordPress migration service treats the redirect map and the rollback plan as the main job of a WordPress website migration, not an afterthought once the files have copied.
- Moves
- Hosts, domains, HTTP to HTTPS, platforms
- Downtime
- Usually none
- Rollback
- Ready before we cut over
- Typical job
- 2 to 10 working days
- Host to host moves
- Domain changes and HTTPS
- Platform migrations
- Multisite and site merges
Overview
Why invest in WordPress Migration?
A host move is the easy version of a WordPress website migration. The jobs that go wrong are domain changes, platform moves off Wix or Squarespace, and merging two sites into one. Those change URLs, and changed URLs without a redirect map are how a site quietly loses its rankings. A WordPress migration service should start with that map.
We crawl the current site first and record every indexed URL, every inbound link worth keeping and the current rankings. Then we build the new environment, map old to new, and test the redirects before anything points at the new server. You keep the old site running until the new one has been checked.
What you can expect
- Every indexed URL mapped to its new address
- Redirects tested before the switch, not after
- Rankings and traffic watched for 30 days afterwards
- The old environment kept until you sign it off
What we offer
Our WordPress Migration capabilities
Host to host moves
Files, database, email routing, SSL, cron jobs and DNS. The least risky move there is, because the URLs do not change. We lower the TTL days in advance, so the cutover takes minutes rather than hours.
Domain changes and HTTPS
The riskiest move for search. Our WordPress migration service maps every URL one to one where it can, and to the closest relevant page where it cannot, then checks the chain depth so no redirect points at another redirect.
Platform migrations
Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, Drupal or a static site into WordPress. This is the hardest kind of WordPress website migration, because every URL changes at once. Content, media and structure come across, and the old URL patterns get redirected.
Multisite and site merges
Two sites becoming one, or one network splitting apart. The hard part is deciding which page wins when both of them rank, and a WordPress migration expert should settle that with you before anything moves.
A rollback that works
A full snapshot of the live site, taken immediately before cutover and tested. If the new environment misbehaves, we go back within the hour.
Post-migration monitoring
Search Console coverage, crawl errors, rankings and traffic watched for 30 days. Most migration damage shows up in week two, not day one.
How we work
Our WordPress Migration process
- 1
Crawl before the WordPress website migration
Every URL, every status code, current rankings and the backlinks worth protecting. This is the baseline you measure the move against.
- 2
Build alongside
The new environment goes up on a staging domain, blocked from indexing, while the live site carries on serving customers.
- 3
Map the redirects
Old URL to new URL, one row at a time. A WordPress migration expert earns their fee in this spreadsheet rather than in the file transfer.
- 4
Cut over
Low TTL, DNS switch, redirects live, SSL checked, forms and checkout tested. We pick a quiet hour for your traffic, not ours.
- 5
Watch for 30 days
Coverage reports, 404 logs and rankings. Anything that slipped gets a redirect added rather than an explanation.

Why HyperLedger IT
Why businesses choose us
WordPress website migration without lost rankings
Traffic loss after a move is almost always a redirect problem, and almost always avoidable. The map is the work.
No surprise downtime
Lower the TTL in advance, test on staging, keep the old server warm. Most of our moves have no measurable outage.
You can go back
A tested rollback changes the risk of the whole project. Without one, a bad cutover becomes an all-night repair job.
Somebody owns it
Hosts will move your files. They will not map your redirects or watch your rankings afterwards. A WordPress migration expert does both.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Can't find what you're looking for? Ask our team.
Will my site go down during the migration?
Usually not. We lower the DNS TTL in advance and keep the old environment serving until the new one is verified, so the overlap covers propagation.
Will I lose my Google rankings?
Not if the redirects are right. Our WordPress migration service maps every indexed URL before the move and monitors coverage for 30 days afterwards, which is when most problems surface.
Can you move us off Wix or Squarespace?
Yes. Content and media come across, and the old URL patterns get redirected. The design is usually rebuilt rather than copied, because those platforms will not export a theme. The redirect mapping is the same work as in any other WordPress migration service.
How long does a WordPress migration service take?
A straight host move is often two or three days including monitoring. A domain change or a platform move runs one to two weeks, because the redirect mapping is the slow part of any WordPress website migration.
Do I need a WordPress migration expert, or can my host do it?
A host will move the files, and for a like-for-like move that may be enough. If the URLs change at all, you want somebody who will own the redirect map and the recovery afterwards.
