SEO Services for NGOs and Charities in London

Charities have two audiences in search and they want opposite things. Donors are looking for a cause to support. The people you exist to help are looking for help, often urgently, and often in words no fundraiser would choose. A single homepage rarely serves both.

How your customers search

What search looks like in your sector

Service searches are urgent and plain. Someone needs a food bank tonight, or help with a debt letter, and they type exactly that. These searches rarely include your charity name.

Donor and supporter searches are different: cause terms, volunteering, and legacy giving, which is researched quietly over a long period and is often the most valuable traffic a charity gets.

Google Ad Grants eligibility runs through Charity Digital in the UK and requires registration with the Charity Commission, OSCR or the Northern Ireland regulator, or recognised charitable status with HMRC. Government bodies, hospitals and schools are excluded, though their charitable arms may qualify.

Searches we would go after for you

  • donate to [cause] UK
  • food bank [borough]
  • volunteer opportunities London
  • leave a gift in your will

Examples, not a finished list. The real one comes out of your site, your margins and what your competitors already hold.

The work

What we actually do

Every engagement starts with an audit, so this list gets reordered once we have seen your site. Nothing here is theoretical.

  1. 01

    Service and support pages

Written in the words people use when they need help, not in the language of your annual report.

  2. 02

    Donation journeys

Pages for giving, regular giving and legacy, each with the trust signals donors look for including your registered charity number.

  3. 03

    Ad Grant alignment

Making sure the one approved site the grant can point to is good enough to convert the traffic it sends.

  4. 04

    Local visibility

Business Profile and borough-level content for the areas you actually serve.

  5. 05

    Volunteer and supporter content

Recruitment pages that rank, because volunteer searches are far less contested than donor searches.

Before you start

What the results page looks like today

Charity SEO is the most mature of the sectors we researched, with real agency pages and named case studies. The gap is the Google Ad Grant. The pages that rank mostly ignore it, while the sector press owns every search about eligibility, even though the grant and organic search are tied together in a way that changes both.

We would rather tell you which positions are realistic now than sell you a target we both know is years away.

FAQs

NGOs and Charities SEO: common questions

If yours is not answered here, email us and we will reply properly.

Do we still need SEO if we have the Google Ad Grant?

Yes, and the two work together. The grant can only send traffic to one approved site, so if that site does not convert or does not cover the right topics, the grant underperforms. Organic also reaches people the grant's keyword restrictions miss.

How much is the UK Ad Grant worth?

Google's UK pages list £7,000 a month of in-kind search advertising, with no rollover of unused budget. Figures you see quoted elsewhere vary, so we work from Google's own documentation.

Are we eligible?

Most registered charities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are, or organisations with recognised charitable status with HMRC. Government entities, hospitals and schools are excluded, though their charitable arms can qualify. Registration goes through Charity Digital in the UK.

Should we target donation keywords or support keywords?

Both, in separate sections. Support content usually ranks more easily and serves your mission. Donation content is harder and competes with national charities, so it needs to be specific to your work.

Do you offer charity rates?

Tell us your budget and what you are trying to achieve. We would rather scope something honest that fits than quote a standard retainer and watch it get declined.
